Happy New Year

Farewell to the first decade of the 21st century. The TIME magazine calls the passing decade as "hell".

Terrorism, Natural disaster, Financial Crisis and etc.

Yeah, such a decade it was, I must say.

But we have to move on.

AP is now two years old.

้สวัสดีปีใหม่นะครับ

Preedee,

I'm happy to have found AP only after 2 years of its birth and must commend your sound thoughts and deliberations. I don't necessarily agree with all of it but as a political practitioner I find it a treasure and it's already put on my list of required readings.

I agree that this has been a trying decade for humankind but there have been worst times in the history of man for Time to have denigrated this one to the status of Hell.

American sponsored terrorism had started as far back in the 1960s, long before their 9/11 backlash, in the form of abetting 'freedom fighters' and 'balancing regional peace'. The ripple came surely, but late, and in the end, one reaps what one sows. More of the same can be deduced from other 'disasters' of the 2000 decade...climate change, financial crisis et al.. We are paying for what our fathers' generation had done in the past..

On the other hand, I'd like to think that this was also the decade when hypocrisy is exposed and cynics gets their time of day. Thanks to the advent and democratisation of technology, public opinion is for the first time built by the public themselves..

Not by what the mainstream or established media fill them up with. People are smarter (if not wiser) this millennium than the previous and have more information to chew and digest.'Tis the decade of 'free speech' in its near pure form (via internet which your blog's included). This new media has helped forge governments and demolish them.. has put Taksin out of power and Barack into it..

Hell isn't so bad after all.. at least we got to see Paris revealed (and I don't mean the city..)

Goodluck for the New Year 2010 and the next decade thereafter.

Thank you krub.

Sometimes we want to see a bit of hell before, if we ever could, go to heaven, don't we?

It should be an interesting year: election in Burma, political conflict in Thailand and the Philippines, prospects in Indonesia, Thai-Cambodian disputes, and etc.

It would be good to discuss some other matters with AP readers for the time to come.
