Roaring rice price

Are we really going to say goodbye to a cheap foodstuffs? It's worrying that foods are getting more and more expensive these days.

Rice price makes the record. I don't want to be too pessimistic by saying that, no too far in the future we will witness the food-war.

We are having an oil-war, aren't we?

It is possible.

War?

Think positive, so it's our turn!

Argricultural country will stand on the world economical stage with absolute power when the world runs out of oil.

Well, I don't think it's that easy. With the easy flow of capitals and private investments, it doesn't mean that agricultural countries will exalt above others. Even though we export food, we still need manufacturers.

Do you eat rice from a can?

If the answer is No, so how is manufacture important to rice consumption?

The rice is sent to "Rong-See" to pass a process of making "Khao-Pluek" become "Khao-Sarn". In Thailand we have our own RONG-See, don't we? So which process is needed manufacture from other country?

I may not be broad enough to discuss about economic. If you have any suggestions or anything to declare, please do not be hesitate.

Thanks for your comments. My point is that, even though agricultural countries are getting more prosper during this time, they are not the only group who would prosper. There are private companies, middle-men, manufacturers (I'm not talking about the can-producers, but those who may or may not own the paddies), and etc. You said agricultural countries will have "absolute power", how can that be so when there are so many who took part in rice industries? Moreover, don't forget that rice isn't like oil. So, unlike oil producing countries, I don't think rice producers would have much bargaining power in the world market. Also, don't agricultural countries depend on industry in one way or another? If so, how can they have, in your word, "absolute power on the world economical stage" when industrial countries still dominate the scene?

Ps. I don't eat rice from a can but I think we would have to in the future.
